Hamilton finished fourth in the championship, with a solitary victory at the Hungarian Grand Prix, in a season dominated by the Red Bull team and its driver Sebastian Vettel. He replaced the retired Michael Schumacher at the Mercedes team in 2013. The next four seasons saw Hamilton unable to match his championship-winning performances, achieving two victories in 2009, three in each of 20 and four in his final season with McLaren in 2012. The following year, he won five Grands Prix, becoming, at 23 years and 300 days, the youngest driver to win the World Drivers' Championship at the time following a last-lap overtake on Timo Glock at the final round of the season, the wet-weather affected Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton achieved three more victories that season, becoming the second rookie after Jacques Villeneuve to be World Drivers' Championship runner-up, and equalled Villeneuve's record of most Grand Prix wins in his debut season. He made his Formula One debut with the McLaren team in 2007, achieving his first career victory in that year's Canadian Grand Prix from his maiden pole position in only his sixth Grand Prix start.
